Andrea Leila Denecke – clay, Josephine Geiger – glass, Ann Jenkins – painting

These three Minnesota women artists evoke iconic images of Minnesota in their work. Leila Denecke’s functional and decorative work in clay is a feminine take on Minnesota’s tradition of Asian-influenced ceramics. Her sculptural work frequently draws on Midwestern farm forms of silos and corncribs, familiar to many of us who grew up in this region. Josephine Geiger translates semi-abstracted landscapes into stained glass, capturing the seasons, trees, and “big weather” of our region. Ann Jenkins’ intensely colored paintings of Minnesota’s North woods and the shore of Lake Superior capture the feel of Northern Minnesota in a fresh, contemporary style.Jenkins - Orange Inlet
