James Grittner

Long-time Wisconsin potter James Grittner came to his profession during the height of the American studio craft movement, earning graduate degrees at both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the School for the American Craftsman at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Jim has taught and lectured extensively over the years and served as Chairman of the Visual Arts Department at the University of Wisconsin-Superior from 1988 to 2003. His wide exhibition experience includes the historic Fiber, Clay, Metal shows at the St. Paul Gallery in the 1960s and, more recently, the American Shino Show at Babcock Galleries in New York.
