“Claiming the identity of an artist came to me late in my life,” states Julia Colman Timm, a former nurse who began her studio practice after her children were grown. “I see myself embedded within the enormous cultural history of artists in all mediums who have been inspired by the natural world. Flowers, branches and water delight my eye as do the strong geometries of urban architecture that surround my neighborhood in downtown Minneapolis.”
Julia works in both porcelain and stoneware using slab and hand building techniques and also creates beautiful paper origami accessories. Her work has been exhibited with the Minnesota Women Ceramic Artists in Northfield, MN and at the Edina Art Center.
