Danbury, WI ceramic artist Laura McCaul, who holds a BFA in printmaking, studied same-soul tribal images and patterns, developing her own visual language to depict animals, birds, plants and the human figure in her one-of-a-kind, hand carved clay tiles. She uses a firing process that is based on Native American blackware and finishes each piece with terra sigillata slip that is rubbed to a sheen after firing.
Laura’s work is represented in the collections of the Minnesota Historical Society and the Leigh Yawkee Woodson Museum in Wausau, WI.
