Linda Christianson

Through her work as a studio potter and instructor, Linda Christianson exemplifies the ideals of the renowned Minnesota Potters of the upper St. Croix Valley. She is a host potter for the group’s annual studio tour.

Linda likens her utilitarian pots to stage sets, stating, “At rest on a table or in a cupboard, they are visually engaging. Through use they provide access to other activities: gathering food from the garden, cooking, conversation, dining, arrangement of flowers. Like a stage set, the pot has an ability to disappear and then reappear.” Her sturdy, straightforward wood-fired forms are a pleasure to use.

A native of Rice Lake, WI, the artist is a graduate of Hamline University and maintains a studio in rural Chisago County. Her work has taken her everywhere from Caracas, Venezuela to Gundaroo, Australia, has been reviewed in the publications Clay Times and Ceramics Monthly, and is represented in several public collections including those of the Weisman Art Museum and the Minnesota Historical Society. Linda has been the recipient of several McKnight Fellowships, a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
