Sam Taylor makes elegant wood fired pottery at his home studio – Dog Bar Pottery – in Westhampton, MA. He admires the Shaker aesthetic, and, like the Shakers, he strives for simplicity, clarity, durability and functionality in his designs. “I try to work with the simplest, most basic forms, holding myself as best I can to the idea that less is more,” he states.
The artist studied ceramics at the Penland School of Craft, and thereafter apprenticed with fellow potter Mark Shapiro. Sam’s work has been exhibited in galleries and craft shows across the country, including appearances at the Minnesota Potters of the Upper St. Croix River Tour.
