Simon Levin

A potter, kiln builder, writer and web designer, Simon Levin is also the creator and director of the Mill Creek Pottery Apprenticeship Program at his studio in Gresham, WI. The artist is committed to passing on his knowledge of crafting woodfired pottery, and believes that potters can play a subversive role in contemporary art. “Whereas much of 20th century art has been an attempt to merge art and life,” he states, “the functional pot continues to hold a place in everyone’s home … clearly if you want your art work to touch people and be touched, the home is the place you want to be.”

Simon holds graduate degrees in ceramics from the University of Iowa. He has served as an instructor at the College of Menominee Nation in Keshena, WI and at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay.
