Fun, cozy, stuffed animals, hand puppets and other goods for kids are made at the Cate & Levi studio in Toronto. Repurposed wool sweaters are used in this work, ensuring that each piece is a one of a kind treasure to be enjoyed as a plaything and saved as an heirloom. In order to keep operations as environmentally responsible as possible, sweater materials are sourced locally. “In Canada,” says Cate & Levi proprietor Josh Title, “there is a plethora of good waste.” Sweaters otherwise destined for the landfill are selected for desirable palette and texture before being processed in hot water at an eco-cleaner. Finished works are stuffed with Nova Scotia wool batten. 10% of Cate & Levi’s profits are donated to help children in need.
