Sally Jones

Sally combines skillful drawing, color theory and silk-screen printing techniques to make sumptuous scarves at her studio in Oneonta, NY. “I have always felt comfortable designing for fabrics,” she explains, “because they are a necessary and familiar part of our daily experience.” Sally’s inspirations include Japanese woodblock prints, Russian constructivist textiles and nature walks with her dog.

The artist attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and studied textile design at the Rhode Island School of Design. After working in the home furnishing industry, she opened her New York studio in 1985.

The Grand Hand features Sally’s Smoke Ring series of continuous loop scarf designs, fashioned in a variety of prints from silk georgette.
