Patti Wessman is an artist and private art teacher based in the Napa region of California. Although she holds an MFA in ceramics from the University of Oregon at Eugene, she is currently intrigued with the color possibilities of fused glass. “Having worked for almost 30 years in clay and glazes,” she explains, “I have to see the color in my head because what one sees in the raw liquid glaze is not what one gets in the finished piece. With glass, what I see is what I get, with the lovely addition of colors melting together.”

Patti’s functional and sculptural glass works reflect her captivation with natural structures. “I will travel far and wide,” she states, “to view rock formations, watch wave patterns and observe vein patterns in leaves and rows of vines.” She interprets their forms in clay and glass installation pieces for public spaces, garden furnishings, and architectural elements. Patti has completed commissions for several West Coast wineries and numerous other public and private collections.
