With acrylics, gouache and ink, Catherine creates whimsical scenes with images that stem from her obsession for pattern and design. Her style is heavily influenced by American folk art; her composition and imagery is inspired by world travel. The artist studied at St. Paul’s College of Visual Arts and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She holds a BA in geology from Colgate University and a BS in elementary education from the University of Minnesota. She lives and works as an illustrator and graphic designer in White Bear Lake, MN.
Where Do Mountains Come From, Momma?, her recently published picture book, is a confluence of Catherine’s many interests and is based on rediscovered sketches made in her geology class notebooks.
