Jantje Visscher

Jantje Visscher works with fiberglass, synthetic and found materials to construct textured sculptural pieces, creating compelling visual effects. Works from her Drawings in Light series play with rhythm while capturing and reflecting light. The patterned surfaces of works from the Weaving Hearts series evoke the connections and complexities of interpersonal bonds over time. These pieces are cast and often embellished with acrylic paint.

She was a founding member of the Women’s Art Registry of Minnesota, and served as a WARM mentor for many years. Jantje was awarded fellowships from the Bush Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts as well as numerous other grants and honors over the years. Her commissioned works include stained glass windows at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul campus, and a mural for the State of Minnesota sited at the Centennial Building in St. Paul.
