Finding inspiration in woodlands, lakes, prairies and coasts, Mary Jo takes a minimalist approach to her contemporary landscape works in oil. The artist limits her palette to bring a respectful stillness and gravitas to the canvas.
Mary Jo, who is based in Stillwater, MN, has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in recent years, including the 2012 Arrowhead Biennial at the Duluth Art Institute, Chicago’s One of a Kind Show in 2008 and several appearances at the annual juried Fine Arts Exhibition at the Minnesota State Fair. She has served as artist in residence at Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and at Isle Royale National Park on Lake Superior. Her work is represented in the collections of the Minnesota Historical Society and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
