Karen Engelbretson

Karen Engelbretson is a graphic designer for print and web communications and principal of KJE Design LLC. She has studied botanical drawing and painting since 1998 and teaches artistic composition and botanical abstraction at the Minnesota School of Botanical Art in Minneapolis.

Karen is president of Polk County Association of Lakes and Rivers, a water quality protection group in Wisconsin where she maintains her family’s 100-year legacy on Bone Lake. She is active in aquatic invasive species prevention, native plant and wildlife habitat restoration. She donates her professional and personal time to these efforts on Bone Lake and other area lakes.

A native of St. Paul, Karen recently moved home, studio and design office to the Stillwater, MN area, where her entire family enjoys a large creative space. In addition to her design and botanical work, Karen creates her line of Felties needle-felted birds and, with her husband and daughter, operates Kiss Letterpress, a small format letterpress print shop.
