Woodworker and commercial photographer John Danicic is the maker of the versatile Stirsby utensil, individually handmade from fine hardwoods at his Edina, MN shop. “My daughter, who was 5 at the time, thought up the name,” says John, of the tool that is designed to stir and scrape more comfortably than a wooden spoon. The Stirsby is finished with food-safe butcher block oil.
John became interested in woodworking while photographing noted furniture artist Wendell Castle. Amazed by the way the iconic artist combined varied species of wood, John was inspired to try his hand at the craft, with beautiful and useful results.
