Palo Alto, CA artist Ken Edwards tells his story best: “After thirty years as a firefighter, I retired and found myself casting about for something real to do. Always drawn to contemporary art, I began to experiment with materials I was familiar with – wood and paint – making sculpture, studio furniture and paintings. Now, I find myself in the studio faithfully each day.” Largely self-taught, Ken has participated in workshops in Colorado’s Anderson Ranch Arts Center and at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA.
Grand Hand Gallery owner Ann Pifer found the artist’s studio on a recent trip to California, and brought selected works back to Minnesota. We’re pleased to offer Ken’s striking, multi-layered paintings on wood panel and wall-mounted sculptural pieces crafted from wood, paint and found metal.
