After 20 years away, Tim Arnold returned to his native Nashville where he is a Williamson County firefighter as well as a woodworker. Focused on traditional designs, Tim learned his craft from the masters at Shakertown, KY. Regarding his pieces, Tim says, “God made the wood, the Shakers made the design, I just put them together.” He does so with great skill, cutting, drying, steaming and bending the wood before securing with wood pegs and copper tacks.
Tim treats his boxes with linseed and beeswax (he keeps his own hives for that purpose.) His trays are finished with polyurethane. As the artist recommends, “do not hesitate to touch and fall under the Shaker spell!”
