After earning a BA in Studio Arts at St Olaf College, 5 years of study with Bauhaus-trained ceramics Master Marguerite Wildenhain marked my beginning in the plastic arts. While studying with Marguerite, I designed and threw tableware for Deneen Pottery. From there, a path through ceramic sculpture, bronze casting, painting, photography, and video brought me to film, which has been a primary medium since 1997.
Though film has been a primary mode of expression, activity in ceramics persists. Now, after years in the art world, making pottery has a new aspect. Both functional and sculptural sensibilities join in a new mode of expression. Form and surface remain paramount.
