Project Description

Rebecca Pavlenko is a photographer, photo educator and scenic artist. She spent two years in a cabin in the woods of West Virginia, teaching herself photography and returned to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota with degrees in Studio Arts and Art History. Her work is exhibited in galleries, museums, and private collections and she is the recipient of MN State Arts Board and Metropolitan Regional Arts Council grants. She served as a mentor in the Women’s Art Registry of Minnesota (WARM) Mentor/Protégé program and taught numerous photography classes and workshops. Working with local arts organizations has been a passion of hers. For WARM she served as chair of the board of directors and was a founding member of Women in Photography and Visual Arts (WPVA.) Currently, she is a member of Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art where she has her studio and serves on the finance committee. She has also worked as a scenic artist on over 100 productions for the Guthrie Theater. Her photography grows out of her love of nature, Zen practice and a joy in exploring photographic materials. She is fascinated by the psychology of the human spirit, the interconnection of all things and the symbolic lessons that are nature’s gift.
