Project Description

Mary Fischer graduated North Texas State University with a degree in History. After eight years in the Air Force that sent her around the country and world, she returned to Texas. She became addicted to working in clay after taking her first class.

The focus of her work is architecture. Mary compares her process to playing with Legos—the more pieces there are to work with, the more ideas there are to explore. Firing is done in an electric kiln. Underglaze pencil and black mason stain are used to accent the edges. Color is added in the form of stains, glaze, or colored slip, but used sparingly.
