Project Description

“Inspiration for my painting comes from the urban landscape and the often overlooked, abstract imagery that we encounter in our daily lives.  I use a variety of mediums including oil, wax, printmaking, and paper collage to build up the surface, remove layers, and develop shape, color, and texture until the final image is achieved”

Michael Schmidt grew up in Toronto, Canada where he attended The University of Toronto and Sheridan College of Art.   He has worked as an artist since moving to the Twin Cities 25 years ago.  Michael’s work has been featured in numerous individual and group shows in the Twin Cities area and can be found in private collections throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Michael’s work has been featured on Kare 11 Newsin the Twin Cities and Minnesota Public Television’s Minnesota Originalseries.
